The House is the centre of every MPSites life, and the four Houses offer a strong sense of identity. House spirit is encouraged by competitions in a wide variety of activities, from art to sports, and House colours can be won for cultural as well as sporting achievement.
The Housemasters and Housecaptains take care of the Houses, and are supported by the Assistant Housemaster and a team of Teachers. Each teacher has a small number of pupils with whom he or she meets at least once a week to provide the help and encouragement that enables every pupil to make the most of life at the School.
The School encourages self-discipline and a sense of responsibility, and aims to create an environment which is co-operative rather than adversarial.
The house system is an essential part of school life. It helps to inculcate a spirit of co- operation, healthy competition and develop loyalty both to the house and to the school, in the form of inter house and intra-house competitions. The students are divided into four houses which are named after the ancient Tamil Kingdom. Each house is headed by a captain, who works under the guidance of House Master/ Mistress.
